Sound Design Statement

Gloria's sound design is based on a definite cut between musical genres. Musically, the project is divided into two primary genres, which include classical and pop. Pop music conveys an element of lightness as well as mass appeal, whereas classical music actually conveys heaviness and tradition. I have addressed the sound design by capitalizing on the contrast between these two genres, using the light and airy quality of pop music to counterbalance the darker, more traditional aspects of classical music. This way, I am trying to capture Gloria's overall tone—hiding a strong, heavy message in a humorous environment.
